Lovable opens London hub, targets 100 staff after $400M raise
What's the deal? AI coding startup Lovable has opened its first London office, its second engineering, product, and design hub after Stockholm. The team already numbers 70 people, with plans to reach 100 by year end.
Why now? London has been part of Lovable since its founding, hosting its design team, led by Nad Chishtie, from the start. The UK is Lovable's third-largest market globally by paying active users and one of its most founder-heavy, giving it reason to build closer to those customers.
What's the endgame? The London staff work across AI research, growth and enterprise engineering, forward-deployed engineering, security, infrastructure, and design, alongside go-to-market, marketing, people, and finance. The office is also the base for the team behind Radish AI, which Lovable recently acquired to scale its work on agents and infrastructure.
By the numbers: Lovable raised $400 million in August at a $13.3 billion valuation, with a stated goal of reaching roughly 450 employees overall. Globally, users have created more than 70 million projects, adding over 1.2 million new ones each week.
Who's building with it? UK users range from founders to established firms including ElevenLabs, PortSwigger, NVIDIA, Adidas, and JLL. At nutrition company Huel, around 300 employees built more than 200 internal projects, cutting over £85,000 in annual software spend.
The signal: Lovable's London push mirrors a broader land grab by AI coding companies for local talent, and pairs neatly with the UK's new Founders' Relief tax break on capital gains — both bidding for founders and growth companies to build and stay in Britain. Rival Cursor said in June it planned a London hub and roughly 200 EMEA staff by year end, while OpenAI and Anthropic have also expanded in the city — making the UK capital a key battleground for the sector's hiring race.
