TrustScale buys RagMetrics to bolster its AI evaluation portfolio
What's the deal? TrustScale, an AI training, evaluation and assurance company, has acquired the technology assets and intellectual property of RagMetrics, an AI configuration and evaluation platform. The companies announced the deal on October 28, 2026, but did not disclose financial terms.
What's the endgame? TrustScale is building what it calls a three-pillar system to make AI "safer and better": Nuance defines AI quality through specifications and rubrics, Argus automates evaluation and correction, and Humanus adds human judgment. RagMetrics adds configuration capabilities and a cost-effective AI-as-a-Judge offering for low- to moderate-risk use cases.
Who's joining? RagMetrics chief executive officer Olivier Cohen, who has built and scaled AI and SaaS companies in the US and EMEA, joins TrustScale as principal, AI solutions. Chief technology officer Hernan Lardiez — whose career spans Microsoft, McAfeeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Nokia and Fiserv — joins the product and customer solutions teams.
Why now? TrustScale cites a business case: it says hallucinations cost organisations nearly $70 billion a year, a problem it argues must be solved to accelerate enterprise AI adoption. "Everyone wants AI that is safer and better, and they need assurance that their AI's risk profile fits their business needs," said chief executive officer Lawrence Snapp.
Cohen framed the fit around measurement. "AI evaluation starts with defining what you want an intelligence system to do and having a practical way to measure whether it delivers in real-time to prevent problems," he said.
The signal: The deal fits a broader 2026 wave of consolidation in AI evaluation and observability. Dynatrace completed its $915 million acquisition of Arize in October, and Cisco bought AI-evaluation firm Galileo earlier in the year. With terms undisclosed and no adoption figures shared, TrustScale's move reads as strategic positioning in a crowded field rather than a market-changing transaction.
