NORD/LB buys energy-transition advisory Voltiq to deepen renewables financing
What's the deal? German commercial bank NORD/LBDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Voltiq, an Amsterdam- and Madrid-based financial advisory boutique focused on renewable energy and the energy transition. The deal was announced in October 2026; terms were undisclosed. Voltiq will keep its own brand and existing team as a specialist advisory business.
What each side brings: Voltiq, founded in 2009, advises on project finance, M&A, and debt and equity raising across solar, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage, hydrogen, bio-energy, and transmission networks. NORD/LB has financed renewable energy projects for more than 30 years, backing over 1,100 projects with roughly 108GW of combined installed capacity.
What's the endgame? The bank wants to pair advice with financing, offering clients structuring, arranging, lending, underwriting, strategic deal advisory, and equity services from a single source. NORD/LB called Voltiq's expertise "a natural extension of our long-established renewable energy financing capabilities."
Why now? Volatile power markets and grid constraints are making renewable project structures more complex, raising demand for combined advisory and financing support.
The signal: European lenders are expanding transition-finance capabilities. NordeaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, for example, launched a dedicated renewable-energy and infrastructure finance initiative in 2024 and helped fund CIP's €1.44 billion purchase of ØrstedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s European onshore-renewables platform in June 2026. For NORD/LB, Voltiq is a bolt-on that extends its reach — not a reinvention of its strategy.
