What's the deal? Neighborhood Sun Benefit Corp.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Meadow Energy, a New York community solar aggregator, for an undisclosed sum. The deal doubles Neighborhood Sun's managed portfolio from roughly 300 MW to more than 600 MW and quadruples its presence in New York.

The details: Neighborhood Sun gains Meadow's 67 community solar projects and transfers more than 30,000 subscribers onto its management platform. The company now manages projects across Maryland, New York, and nine other markets. Climate First Bank helped facilitate the transaction.

Why now? New York is one of the strongest community-solar markets in the US, with 8 GW of distributed solar installed by mid-2026 and another 2.7 GW in development. The state has added 2027 funding to expand further, giving acquirers room to scale.

What's the endgame? Neighborhood Sun focuses on expanding solar savings in low- and moderate-income communities. "Neighborhood Sun's laser focus on increasing access to solar savings in low- and moderate-income communities is literally converting our beliefs into practice," said Hana Freymiller, senior VP and director of energy project finance at Climate First Bank.

What could go wrong? The expansion rests on continued strength in New York's incentives and project pipeline. Any pullback in state funding or stalled projects would weigh on the enlarged portfolio.

The signal: The deal fits a broader pattern of consolidation and capital backing in distributed solar, echoing Global Infrastructure Partners'Dealroom has a profile for this one.
