Chemexpress backs new $45M life sciences fund in Chongqing
What's the deal? Chinese CRO and CDMO company ChemexpressDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has helped establish a US$41.3M private equity fund focused on life sciences. The Chongqing Yudu Life Sciences Navigation Private Equity Investment Fund Partnership was registered in October, according to business registry app Qichacha.
Who's behind it? The fund is jointly backed by an investment subsidiary wholly owned by Chemexpress and Chongqing Industrial Investment Mother Fund Partnership, among others. Its business scope covers equity investment through private funds.
Why now? Chemexpress, founded in 2006 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market in 2021, has expanded steadily in Chongqing. It put an ADC/XDC CDMO manufacturing site there into operation in 2025.
What's the endgame? The fund gives Chemexpress a vehicle to make targeted equity bets in the life sciences sector, complementing its core services across drug discovery, development, and manufacturing.
The signal: Chinese biotech funding has been uneven, with April 2026 financing falling sharply from the prior month. A new, sector-focused fund signals that capital remains available for selected companies and technologies — though its formation alone is not evidence of fresh money deployed or a broader revival.
