Bloomberg reports he owns around 1% of Anthropic thanks to an early investment, with the stake worth nearly $10 billion at the company’s latest private valuation of $965 billion.

Context. Schmidt invested tens of millions in Anthropic’s Series A in 2021 (people familiar, via Bloomberg), when PitchBook data cited by TechCrunch put the startup’s valuation at about $461 million. It is unclear from public reporting whether he has sold any of the position since. Paper value will move with the IPO price and lock-up terms.
