CI GAM lists new Munro international growth equity ETF on TSX

What's the deal? CI Global Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (CI GAM) has launched the CI Munro International Growth Equity Fund, an actively managed ETF now trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under two tickers: CMIG for its Canadian-dollar series and CMIG.U for its US-dollar hedged series. The fund targets growth companies primarily outside Canada and the United States, sub-advised by Melbourne-based Munro Partners.

The strategy: Munro applies a global growth approach, identifying companies positioned to benefit from long-term structural and technological change. Each series launched with 50,000 units priced at US$14.7 and US$20.00 respectively.

What's the endgame? The launch extends CI GAM's existing partnership with Munro, which also manages the CI Munro Global Growth Equity Fund. The firm paired the ETF with a mutual fund version and a separate small/mid-cap mandate to widen investor access.

"These funds expand the successful CI Munro fund lineup and provide Canadian investors with additional options to diversify globally," said Jennifer Sinopoli, chief distribution officer for CI GAM.

Why now? Canada's ETF market is running hot. September 2026 brought US$13B in net sales — including US$8.43B into equity ETFs — and year-to-date inflows hit US$114B.

What could go wrong? Recent demand has largely favored broad-market and index products, so an actively managed international-growth fund is entering a crowded field without an obvious tailwind. By October 21, CI's fund profile showed roughly US$1.03M in assets — an early footprint rather than proof of traction. CI GAM did not disclose management expense ratios or asset targets.

The signal: The launch tests whether active, internationally focused strategies can win attention in a market tilting toward passive. Its significance will hinge on whether the dual-currency structure draws sustained assets beyond the initial units.
