easyJet reverses course, picks Starlink Wi-Fi for its entire fleet from 2027

What's the deal? easyJetDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → will fit SpaceX's Starlink Wi-Fi across its Airbus A320/A321 fleet, offering onboard connectivity for the first time in the airline's history. Installation starts in the first half of 2027 and is expected to be complete across the fleet by early 2028.

Why now? The deal reverses chief executive officer Kenton Jarvis's January position that Starlink's economics did not work for the carrier. It also lands in the middle of a live European debate over how much the continent's infrastructure should depend on Elon Musk's satellite network.

What's the endgame? easyJet has never offered onboard Wi-Fi. Adding connectivity is a notable upgrade aimed at making its low-cost offer more attractive to passengers.

The competition: easyJet joins a fast-growing group of Starlink airline customers. British AirwaysDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → began rolling out free Starlink Wi-Fi in March and plans fleetwide coverage within two years, while SouthwestDealroom has a profile for this one. What could go wrong? The deal's impact on competition and margins will hinge on rollout, pricing, and the passenger experience — none of which are yet clear.

The signal: Starlink is fast becoming the default connectivity choice in the sky, pulling even cost-focused carriers into the race. For easyJet, the move adds pressure on rivals like RyanairDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → that still lack onboard Wi-Fi.
