Sweden's Strawberry exits beta, pitching a $6M-backed agent browser against ChatGPT

What's the deal? Stockholm-based StrawberryDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched version 1.0 of its AI browser, taking the product out of beta a year after its invite-only debut. The browser lets non-technical teams build and share AI agents — which Strawberry calls "companions" — to handle tasks like sales, recruiting, customer support, and marketing.

How it works: Agents run on a user's own device inside the browser, using the tabs, logins, and tools a team already has. They ask for approval before anything consequential goes out, and the work is shared across the business so each agent, as Strawberry puts it, becomes "like a colleague."

What's new in 1.0: The release adds nine ready-made companions, such as Sales Sally and Talent Theo, plus a customisable look for each agent. Recent updates include scheduled or event-triggered routines, meeting capture across Google Meet, Zoom, and Teams without a bot joining, and shared team companions.

Why now? The launch lands as AI products shift from answering prompts to carrying out multi-step work inside everyday apps. "The technology is already here: agents can now work for weeks in a row," said chief executive officer Charles Maddock.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2023, Strawberry wants to bring AI beyond developers to non-technical enterprise teams, freeing employees for higher-value work. Early users include Swedish startup Lovable, which uses it to source engineers, and Tandem Health.

The 12-person company raised $6 million in October last year, led by General Catalyst and EQT VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, with participation from founders of Lovable, Supabase, and Hugging Face. Maddock said it would raise a Series A to scale the product across Europe and the US.

Market positioning: Strawberry offers a free tier plus subscriptions at $20, $85, and $250 per month, depending on credit usage. Maddock frames the fight not against other AI browsers but the big agent platforms: "I would say that we compete much more with the big agent platforms like ClaudeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Gemini."

What could go wrong? Strawberry enters a crowded field against AI-native browsers and automation startups with far deeper funding. Its pitch rests on making agents reliable across a team while keeping the human oversight business workflows demand — a balance that remains unproven at scale.

The signal: The "1.0" label matters less than whether a small European team can carve out space as an on-device, sovereignty-minded alternative to US agent giants. Strawberry is betting the browser — where a team's context and logins already live — is the right place to do it.
