Katalyst buys Bluetowne in second deal in three months

What's the deal? KatalystDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a managed services provider backed by e4n Group, has acquired Bluetowne, a Mount Pleasant, South Carolina-based provider of cybersecurity, cloud, data centre, networking, and managed IT services. Terms were undisclosed.

Why now? It is Katalyst's second acquisition in three months, following Layer27Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in July, and comes since the company partnered with e4n Group in May 2026. Founded in 2001, Bluetowne adds engineering expertise across cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure.

What's the endgame? The deal expands Katalyst's presence in the Charleston market and brings client relationships in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) and renewable energy sectors. Together, the companies aim to serve mid-market businesses in those sectors with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and AI capabilities.

Eric Hartley, Bluetowne's chief executive officer, joins Katalyst to help build out vertical practices. Existing clients keep their current team, now with broader resources behind them.

What customers get: "Bluetowne clients keep the team they know and trust, and now they have the full resources of Katalyst behind them," said Luke Johnson, Katalyst's chief executive officer.

The signal: The purchase fits a broader consolidation trend in IT services, where buyers are chasing selective capability-building over scale alone. Market research counted 449 IT-services transactions in the first half of 2026, with managed services, cloud, cybersecurity, and infrastructure among the leading areas; managed-service-provider deals rose 73% year over year in Q1. Without disclosed terms or detail on Bluetowne's size, the deal's significance is hard to gauge.
