Movement Software buys UK fleet specialist Freeway, extends reach to Africa and Asia

What's the deal? Movement Software, a Gothenburg-based group of more than 20 transport-software companies, has acquired Freeway Fleet SystemsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a UK fleet maintenance and asset management specialist. The deal was announced in October 2026; terms were not disclosed.

What does Freeway do? Headquartered in London and Johannesburg, it supplies bus, coach, and other road transport operators with software covering maintenance scheduling, defect reporting, workshop management, spare parts, purchasing, and fleet cost analysis. Its mobile apps handle driver checks, inspections, and electronic job cards.

Why now? Freeway's maintenance tools slot into the passenger information and operator fleet management systems already inside Movement's public mobility business. "Fleet maintenance is what keeps public transport running, and Freeway slots straight into the Public Mobility platform we're building," said Per Stenman, Movement's business area director for public mobility.

What changes? Freeway keeps its brand, team, and products. It also gains access to investment, technical expertise, and shared platforms across the group, plus a network of operators in Northern Europe.

What's the endgame? The deal extends Movement's reach into Southern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific through Freeway's customer base. Movement plans to introduce Freeway's products to Northern European operators while Freeway offers Movement's software to its own markets.
