JioBlackRock opens GIFT City global-equity fund with $5,000 minimum

What's the deal? JioBlackRock Mutual FundDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched the JioBlackRock Advantage World Equity Fund (IFSC), an open-ended feeder fund that routes money into BlackRockDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s globally diversified Advantage World Equity strategy. The fund is offered through its GIFT City subsidiary, Jio BlackRock International AMC (IFSC), and requires a minimum initial investment of $5,000. The firm did not disclose how much it aims to raise.

What's the endgame? The product gives eligible Indian investors exposure to global developed markets — chiefly the United States, alongside Europe and Japan — through a GIFT City route that sits outside the overseas-investment cap applying to domestic mutual-fund schemes. The underlying strategy is run by BlackRock's Systematic Active Equity team and spans themes including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

Why now? The launch follows JioBlackRock's July plan to bring its first GIFT City outbound products — a global-equity fund and an emerging-markets fund — to market. It also comes as the firm scales fast: its assets under management reached US$3.09B in the second quarter of FY27, up 57% year-on-year.

What could go wrong? The fund enters a crowded field. DSP, Edelweiss, and PPFAS have introduced outbound global offerings, and Aditya Birla Sun Life announced GIFT City retail funds in October. Available results do not indicate how strong investor demand is.

The signal: GIFT City is becoming the main channel for Indian retail investors seeking overseas exposure beyond domestic caps. "We believe global diversification will become an increasingly important component of long-term wealth creation," said chief executive officer Sid Swaminathan, framing the launch as the start of a broader platform ambition.
