Camsense adds $12.6M as it completes $714M Hong Kong IPO

What's the deal? Camsense (06802.HK) has raised an additional US$11.9M in net proceeds after its overall coordinators fully exercised the IPO over-allotment option on October 25. The move issued 1,738,300 H shares at the US$7.11 offer price, lifting total net proceeds from the Hong Kong listing to about US$86.3M.

Why now? The 15% over-allotment option covers delayed deliveries from the September debut and completes the mechanics of the offering. Camsense said its stabilising period ended with no market purchases for price support.

What led up to it? The Shenzhen-based company listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on September 30, raising about US$74.4M net from 11,588,800 H shares. Retail demand was exceptional: the public tranche was oversubscribed by more than 3,500 times, and shares closed their first day at US$26, up 265%.

What's the endgame? Camsense designs and mass-produces spatial sensors — triangulation LiDAR, dTOF LiDAR, and line lasers — chiefly for robot vacuums, and supplies the five largest brands globally. It has earmarked 65% of net proceeds for research and development, 25% for manufacturing, and 10% for working capital, with ambitions to expand into yard robots, pool cleaners, and humanoid robots.

Notable backers include two cornerstone investors who subscribed for US$13.3M combined: a wholly-owned BYD subsidiary took US$12.1M, and a unit of Zhongrun Optical took US$1.21M.

What could go wrong? Camsense's profits are thin and recent. FY2025 net profit was just US$302.5K, a 0.4% margin, after losses in 2023 and 2024. Customer concentration is high — the five largest buyers supplied 85.6% of first-quarter 2026 revenue — and average selling prices have fallen as customers develop their own designs.

The signal: The option exercise mainly closes out a buzzy listing rather than signalling fresh strategic momentum. Camsense's debut landed in a booming Hong Kong market, though recent reporting points to weaker debuts and more selective investor appetite — making the gap between a 265% first-day pop and the company's slim margins the number worth watching.
