Luxembourg fund backs four Rwandan agri-food firms with up to €350K each
What's the deal? Four Rwandan enterprises — HIHSA, Eza Neza, DAVET, and AflakioskDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → — have been selected for co-financing under the third edition of the LuxAid Demonstration Fund in Rwanda. Each will receive up to €350,000 to scale solutions tackling challenges in the country's agri-food sector.
By the numbers: Combined with the enterprises' own contributions, the awards represent a total investment of €2.154 million. The programme drew strong interest: 120 enterprises were invited to apply, and 80 eligible applications were received.
What's the endgame? The fund, run by Luxembourg's development agency LuxDevDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, backs commercially tested local solutions. The four projects span seed supply, freeze-drying, aggregation and cold storage, and aflatoxin testing — practical constraints between farm production and sale.
Why now? The 2026 call focused on two themes: digital and service innovations that improve connectivity, efficiency and compliance across agri-food value chains, and backbone infrastructure that strengthens processing, logistics, and aggregation. Selections were based on recommendations from 16 ecosystem partners.
The bigger push: The awards fit a wider effort to fix value-chain bottlenecks. In March 2026, Rwanda's agriculture ministry partnered with ACES to rehabilitate and operate 10 cold-room packhouses, and Cold Solutions Rwanda secured a debt facility of up to $18 million in September for cold storage in Kigali.
The signal: This is the fund's third Rwanda round, following three awardees in its first edition and four in its second. The grants are smaller than the infrastructure deals they complement; their value lies in targeted, co-financed support for local businesses bridging the gap between farm and market.
