EBRD puts €100M into Türkiye's İş Leasing for green and quake recovery

What's the deal? The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has committed €100 million to İş Finansal Kiralama (İş Leasing) to fund corporate green investments and infrastructure renewal in Türkiye. At least 30% of the capital must go to regions hit by the 2023 earthquakes.

Who's funding it? The package combines up to €94 million from the EBRD with €6 million in concessional financing from the Clean Technology Fund. It sits under the Türkiye Green Economy Financing Facility III (GEFF III), a €1 billion programme.

What's the endgame? İş Leasing, a subsidiary of Türkiye İş BankasıDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → founded in 1988, specialises in equipment leasing and asset finance. The money is earmarked for energy efficiency upgrades, renewable energy, and climate resilience projects. The programme also includes provisions to widen access for women entrepreneurs and small firms.

Why now? The facility channels green capital through a local lender rather than funding projects directly — the same model behind a €50 million GEFF III facility for QNB LeasingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → announced in May, which carried an identical 30% requirement for earthquake-affected areas.

The signal: This is less a standalone deal than another step in scaling green business lending across Türkiye. The EBRD invested a record €2.7 billion in the country in 2025, 66% of it supporting the green transition, and says its cumulative investment in earthquake recovery has topped €1.6 billion. Linking reconstruction to resilient, climate-aligned investment is now the bank's default playbook.
