Try Dealroom →, a California-based managing general underwriter specialising in cross-border trucking, physical damage and cargo coverage. The company moves freight across the US-Mexico border for carriers and logistics operators. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? Diesel joins Novacore's Specialty Transportation segment, bringing its full team and underwriting expertise. Founder Jason Wexler stays on to lead the business and expand beyond physical damage and cargo into other specialty transportation lines.

Why now? The deal caps a busy 2026 for the Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based insurer. Over the past year it has also agreed to buy CP Insurance AssociatesDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the appeal? Cross-border trucking is hard to place. US-Mexico operations move equipment and cargo between two legal and insurance systems, along freight corridors exposed to theft, and few markets have the appetite or expertise to write it.

That makes specialist underwriters like Diesel valuable to the retail agents and wholesalers handling these accounts — and gives Novacore a niche to sell across its network of more than 20,000 agents.

"Diesel brings deep underwriting expertise and a strong niche in an underserved corner of the transportation market," said Aaron Miller, Novacore's chief executive officer.

Wexler said joining the platform gives his team "access to a deep agent network, new technology and the resources to grow."

The signal: The deal fits a wider insurance M&A pattern: buyers chasing managing general underwriters and niche expertise, even as overall deal activity has softened, according to KPMGDealroom has a profile for this one.
