Midera buys poultry-gear maker Phoenix in its first deal since going public

What's the deal? Midera Food ProcessingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Phoenix InnovationsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Arkansas-based designer and builder of poultry processing equipment. Terms were not disclosed. Phoenix, based in Russellville, operates at an annual revenue run rate of roughly $25 million.

What each side brings: Midera supplies food processing equipment and automation for protein, bakery, and snack producers, spanning 30-plus brands and about 2,800 employees. Phoenix specialises in needle injection, marination, tumbling, and thermal processing solutions for protein processors.

Why now? Midera became an independent public company in July and had flagged a deep acquisition pipeline. Its latest quarter showed 16% order growth and a record backlog.

What's the endgame? The deal advances Midera's "total line solutions" strategy — delivering complete processing lines rather than standalone machines. Poultry is one of its fastest-growing categories, supported by a consumer shift toward higher-protein diets.

"The leadership team at Phoenix Innovations has earned trusted relationships throughout the poultry industry by consistently solving complex processing challenges," said chief executive officer Mark Salman.

Worth noting: This is Midera's first acquisition as a standalone company, though it describes a repeatable M&A framework honed across 30-plus deals since 2005. The company says a strong balance sheet positions it to be an active acquirer in a fragmented market.

The signal: The bolt-on puts Midera's stated acquisition strategy into action and reflects a broader push among processing suppliers toward integrated, end-to-end capabilities — a trend also seen in larger platform moves such as JBT's acquisition of MarelDealroom has a profile for this one.
