Channel expands CIBC credit lines to $135M to fund equipment leases

What's the deal? ChannelDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed a new revolving credit facility with CIBC Bank USA, lifting the bank's total committed financing to $135 million. The debt supports origination of equipment-finance leases and loans, complementing an existing CIBC facility dedicated to Channel's working-capital products.

What's the endgame? The money gives Channel's equipment-finance platform room to scale across both of its business lines. "This expanded commitment gives our equipment finance platform the flexibility to scale," said Robert Moskovitz, chief financial officer at Channel.

Why now? The expansion builds on a longstanding lender relationship rather than a one-off deal. "Access to flexible capital is essential for equipment finance companies as they navigate evolving business needs and opportunities," said Jeff Michalczyk, regional group head at CIBC Bank USA.

The bigger picture: The facility follows Channel's May 2026 $205 million equipment-finance-backed securitization, which drew about $740 million in investor orders — nearly four times oversubscribed. That demand points to appetite for Channel's assets beyond bank credit.

The signal: By pairing a bank revolver with the securitization market, Channel is diversifying its funding base across multiple channels. For specialty lenders, spreading reliance beyond a single source is becoming the template for scaling through shifting rate conditions.
