LGM Pharma buys Sannova to add bioanalysis, impurity testing

What's the deal? LGM PharmaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Sannova AnalyticalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, adding specialised bioanalytical testing and impurity analysis to its US laboratory services business. The deal value was undisclosed. Sannova will keep its name and continue under its existing management team and scientific staff.

What's the endgame? LGM Pharma is building a US-based analytical services platform alongside its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) sourcing business. The goal: let pharma and biotech customers access development and testing services through a single provider.

The acquisition brings capabilities LGM Pharma did not previously have at the same breadth, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) bioanalysis for peptides and oligonucleotides, nitrosamine testing, and extractables and leachables evaluations. It also extends the company's lab footprint into the Northeast US.

Why now? Regulatory expectations around nitrosamine impurities, including nitrosamine drug substance-related impurities (NDSRIs), have raised demand for testing methods that measure very low concentrations. The US Food and Drug Administration calls for sensitive, validated testing when such risks are identified.

By the numbers: Sannova reports more than 1,500 completed GLP studies and over 3,500 cGMP analytical studies. It is registered with the US Drug Enforcement Administration to handle Schedule II through V controlled substances.

"Over the last five years, we've built analytical testing into a standalone business, and the two things our clients keep asking for are bioanalysis and more extensive impurity work," said Prasad Raje, chief executive officer of LGM Pharma. He said Sannova brings specialised capabilities and added lab capacity.

Existing customers see continuity. Sannova clients keep their scientific teams, qualified methods, and contacts, while gaining access to LGM Pharma's API sourcing and market intelligence services. LGM Pharma customers gain Sannova's Northeast lab and expanded bioanalytical services.

The signal: The deal fits a wider pharma-services trend toward integrated providers built through bolt-on acquisitions. With no price disclosed, the significance is chiefly a capability and service-breadth expansion rather than a demonstrable shift in market position.
