New fund

AQR brings its factor-based alternatives to UCITS with new market-neutral fund

What's the deal? AQR Capital ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched the AQR Market Neutral Styles UCITS Fund, an alternative vehicle built to deliver returns with low correlation to broad markets. It began operating on October 20, 2026. The fund draws on academically documented style premia that AQR groups under the label Academic Alpha.

What's the endgame? The strategy systematically targets risk premia tied to quantitative factors such as momentum, carry, defensive, and value. To stay uncorrelated from traditional indices and keep volatility contained, it builds a diversified portfolio of long and short positions across stocks, equity indices, fixed income, and currencies.

What's inside? The fund incorporates AQR's latest research in signal design and portfolio construction, including an advanced factor-weighting method meant to sharpen execution and tighten risk control. The firm is pitching it to institutional investors as a way to diversify the usual biases of traditional portfolios.

Why now? The launch extends AQR's systematic UCITS lineup. In 2025 it rolled out four Fusion funds, and in March 2026 it introduced a strategy combining global equity with a market-neutral sleeve.

The signal: Factor investing is not new ground for AQR — its long-running US Style Premia fund held about $3.6 billion in assets as of October 2026. The point of this launch is widening access to those strategies in UCITS format, not opening a new category. With the fund's size undisclosed, its appeal to investors remains to be proven.
