Why now? Molins launched the vehicle in March 2026, with a regulatory prospectus setting out planned investments of €5 million over three years. It is pursuing carbon neutrality by 2050, and these first deals put that strategy into action.
What's the endgame? Molins Ventures will combine three approaches: direct investments in startups, indirect investments through specialised funds, and co-investments with other industrial companies. It will target early- and growth-stage companies, with emphasis on Europe and Latin America, where Molins operates.
The strategy focuses on four areas: decarbonisation, productivity through automation and AI, circularity and sustainable supply chains, and new construction materials. Methanol Reformer builds modular systems that convert methanol into high-purity hydrogen and on-demand electricity.
What they said: "The launch of Molins Ventures represents a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and sustainability," said Marcos Cela, chief executive officer of Molins. The unit is led by Abhishek Bhattacharya, the company's head of strategy.
Beyond capital, Molins Ventures will act as an industrial partner and early customer, giving portfolio companies access to its engineering capabilities and testing facilities across 18 countries.
The signal: Molins joins a wider push by cement and construction-materials groups to use venture investment to find technologies they can deploy in-house.
