YellowFox buys Berlin AI firm Peregrine to own its video telematics tech
What's the deal? German telematics provider YellowFoxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has fully acquired Berlin-based AI software company Peregrine Technologies, the companies said in October 2026. Terms were not disclosed. The move brings in-house a video telematics technology the two firms had already built together.
Why now? The acquisition deepens a partnership that has run for more than three years. YellowFox and Peregrine jointly developed AI-based video telematics that analyses traffic situations, driving style, and vehicle surroundings in real time to flag risks and help prevent accidents.
What each company does: YellowFox, founded in 2003 and based near Dresden, offers cloud-based telematics for fleet, asset, and personnel management across the DACH region. It runs more than 125,000 connected vehicles with 125 staff. Peregrine, founded in 2019, builds GDPR-compliant AI software that processes vehicle camera data using edge computing and computer vision.
What changes? Nothing for existing Peregrine customers, the company said. The Peregrine brand and its current product line stay in place and will be developed further within the YellowFox group.
Why it matters: YellowFox is bringing a core technology capability inside rather than entering a new business. "Everything we offer our customers, we want to be able to do ourselves," said Hendrik Scherf, founder and chief executive officer of YellowFox.
Who's backing it? Majority owner Peter Möhrle HoldingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Hamburg family investment firm, is supporting YellowFox's growth. On the sell side, venture investors Vektor PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Brandenburg Kapital (ILB)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, along with the founding team, exited. DZ BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → provided acquisition financing.
The signal: The deal fits a wider trend of telematics providers folding video AI directly into their platforms. Geotab has named AI video as a growth area, and in May 2026 Netradyne expanded in Europe by acquiring Dutch provider Moove. For YellowFox, owning the technology outright is a bet that fleet safety increasingly runs on linking image, vehicle, and environment data.
