Foundation Credit closes second infrastructure debt fund at $540M
What's the deal? Foundation CreditDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has held a final close for Foundation Infrastructure Debt Fund II LP at roughly $540 million in total commitments, above its $500 million target. The vehicle targets mid-market, local US infrastructure debt.
Who backed it? The fund drew a mix of new and existing institutional investors, including pension funds, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, asset managers, and registered investment advisers.
What's the endgame? Part of the firm's Foundation Infrastructure Opportunities platform, the fund invests in what it calls a "highly fragmented" local US infrastructure debt market by offering flexible capital. Sectors span transportation, water and wastewater, sustainable and environmental, social, and smart infrastructure.
"We are excited about the robust pipeline of opportunities in our middle market focused infrastructure debt strategy," said Steve Pinkos, president of Foundation Credit. Founded in 2012, the firm focuses on the US municipal credit and infrastructure debt markets.
Why now? Infrastructure fundraising overall has cooled sharply after a record 2025. Debt is bucking the trend: dedicated infrastructure debt funds raised $4.8 billion globally in the first half of 2026, up about 37% year on year, as investors chase steadier cash flows and downside protection.
The signal: The oversubscribed close points to solid demand for a specialised strategy at a time when broader infrastructure capital is harder to raise. At $540 million, though, this is a focused mid-market raise rather than a sector-defining fund.
