Milestone

sennder turns profitable on its way to €1B revenue as digital freight's survivors consolidate

What's the deal? Berlin-based sennder, one of Europe's largest digital road freight forwarders, says it has turned profitable on an unadjusted IFRS EBITDA basis and is on track for €1 billion in revenue in 2026. It expects full-year IFRS EBITDA profitability for 2026. The milestone follows the completed integration of C.H. RobinsonDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s European Surface Transportation business, which sennder took over in a deal announced in February 2025.

How did it get there? Both businesses now run on a single platform, sennOS. sennder moves more than 150,000 shipments a month across a network of over 40,000 vetted carriers. It says operator productivity, measured as gross profit per operator, rose 45% year on year, helped by scale and AI agents that match loads with trucks, price shipments in real time and handle exceptions.

"Continued operational momentum and sustained profitability puts us in an even stronger position to invest in the digital transformation of freight," said co-founder and CEO David Nothacker.

The bigger picture: Digital freight was one of the hottest categories of the 2021 funding boom, and one of the hardest hit afterwards. US peer Convoy, once valued at $3.8 billion, shut down in 2023, and the survivors had to switch from chasing volume to proving margins. sennder, last priced at about $2.1 billion in late 2022, chose consolidation. Buying C.H. Robinson's European arm gave it scale, and AI agents are now meant to lift productivity per operator.

What to watch: The €1 billion is not like-for-like growth, since the merger was first presented as combining about €1.4 billion of revenue. European road-freight demand also remains weak. The real test is whether profitability holds for the full year.
