Kirkwood buys signage firm Cadwell in ninth deal in 15 years

What's the deal? Kirkwood, a Massachusetts-based marketing execution provider, has acquired Cadwell Design + Sign, a Holliston maker of custom signage, environmental graphics and large-format branded visual solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? The deal expands Kirkwood's branded environment capabilities, adding signage and branded physical spaces to its print, direct-mail, promotional-products and fulfillment services. Cadwell will keep its name, Holliston base and team, including all its employees.

Why now? This is Kirkwood's ninth acquisition in 15 years. It continues a steady expansion strategy aimed at offering clients more end-to-end solutions across physical and printed brand touchpoints.

What they said: "The greatest value in this acquisition is the people joining Kirkwood from Cadwell, their years of experience, deep understanding of clients, and ability to develop solutions that work," said Glen Fairbanks, Kirkwood's executive vice president of branded environments.

The signal: The deal fits a broader pattern of sign and graphics firms combining design, production and installation to serve clients in one place.
