What's the endgame? Brightstar sees room to grow MHG both organically and through acquisitions, while investing in its technician workforce and adding technology. "We see a meaningful opportunity to invest in that workforce and bring practical technology and AI to the front line," said Sean Courtney, a managing director at Brightstar.

Why now? Brightstar partner Charles Yoon pointed to demand drivers reshaping the sector. "Distribution buildout, reshoring, and the shift toward automated warehouses are expanding the equipment base that needs skilled service," he said, calling MHG's model "suited for that."

The signal: The deal fits a wave of private equity-backed consolidation among equipment dealers and service businesses. The draw is the mix of equipment sales and rentals with recurring parts and maintenance work — revenue that keeps customers running and gives acquirers a platform to build on.
