Evolve Royalties lines up US$75M BMO facility to fund copper royalty push
What's the deal? Evolve RoyaltiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured a revolving credit facility of up to US$75 million with BMODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to fund expansion of its copper royalty portfolio. The three-year line was undrawn at announcement, with BMO committing US$50 million and an option to expand to US$75 million subject to conditions.
What's the endgame? Evolve (CSE:EVR; OTCQX:EVRYF) provides capital to miners in exchange for a share of future revenues, giving investors copper exposure without the costs of building or running mines. It now holds 15 royalty interests, with four expected to generate cash flow by year-end.
Why now? Chief executive officer Joseph de la Plante argues copper faces a widening supply-demand gap as electric vehicles, data centres, and electrification lift consumption while ageing mines and few discoveries constrain supply. The facility gives Evolve acquisition firepower without issuing new shares.
The company's management team previously built Nomad Royalties, which SandstormDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → acquired in 2022. De la Plante says Evolve is applying a similar model to copper, targeting deals below US$150 million — a niche he says larger gold-focused players have left open.
What could go wrong? The facility is a financing tool, not a completed deal. Its value hinges on whether Evolve deploys it into producing or development-stage royalties on good terms; drawing on it adds borrowing costs and asset-backed obligations.
The signal: Royalty financing has long been a precious-metals play. Evolve is betting the same model can scale in copper, positioning as one of few public companies offering a copper-focused royalty bet as electrification demand climbs.
