EGGER buys majority stake in Italian edging firm Kromaplast

What's the deal? The EGGER GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired a 65% majority stake in Kromaplast S.r.l., an Italian edging specialist based in Cessalto in the Veneto region. The transaction closed on September 30, 2026. The purchase price was not disclosed.

What each side brings: Founded in 1990, Kromaplast handles the further processing, packaging, cutting to size, and logistics of edging products for the Italian furniture industry. EGGER operates two edging-producing plants, in Gebze, Türkiye, and Brilon, Germany.

What's the endgame? EGGER wants to make its edging products available faster across Italy, one of Europe's most important furniture markets. The deal turns Kromaplast into a service hub, strengthening EGGER's supply chain and customer service.

“In Kromaplast, we have found a partner with whom we can make our edging service even more customer-oriented and flexible,” said Tobias Neumann, division director finance and administration at EGGER Decorative Products Components.

What changes? Not much, by design. All 21 Kromaplast employees stay on, and operational management remains with Francesco Lorenzon, the company's previous shareholder and managing director. Existing contacts and service processes are unchanged.

“For our customers, this step above all means continuity in their daily business, combined with new opportunities for the future,” Lorenzon said.

Why now? EGGER also recently announced a planned minority investment in Sinowolf, a Chinese edging manufacturer with a strong position in Asia. The two deals have distinct focuses: Sinowolf targets manufacturing reach in Asia, while Kromaplast adds edging-related services for Italy.

The signal: EGGER is building out its edging business through targeted stakes rather than a single large bet, pairing manufacturing capacity with local service and logistics. The approach points to a consolidation strategy aimed at getting closer to customers in Europe's key furniture hubs.
