2G Energy buys 50% of container specialist LC Systems

What's the deal? 2G Energy AGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired a 50 percent stake in LC Systems GmbH, an Ahaus-based specialist in container solutions and part of the family-owned Wenker Group. The deal, announced in October 2026, has an undisclosed value. LC Systems has long supplied container solutions to 2G, an international manufacturer of sustainable energy systems.

Why now? Containerized energy solutions are growing in importance as energy systems become more decentralized and global demand rises. Through the deal, 2G secures access to manufacturing capacity and expertise in what it calls an increasingly dynamic market.

What's the endgame? 2G aims to strengthen its value chain and lock in supply and delivery security for a key component. LC Systems handles major stages in-house, from welding and assembly to painting.

What's the appeal? According to 2G, LC Systems can stack containers weighing up to 40 metric tons for use in data centers and peaker power plants. "The ability to stack containers weighing up to 40 metric tons is unique worldwide in this form," said Pablo Hofelich, chief executive officer of 2G Energy AG.

Geographic proximity also plays a role. The companies' sites in Heek and Ahaus enable short coordination channels and efficient logistics.

What changes? Both sides frame the deal as a long-term partnership rather than a takeover. "With this investment, we are now creating a shared long-term perspective and can combine our respective capabilities even more closely," said Malte Vögeding, managing director of LC Systems. LC Systems employees will become more closely connected with 2G going forward.

The signal: As power demand climbs and data centers expand, energy equipment makers are moving to secure modular manufacturing capacity in-house — treating container production as a strategic asset rather than an outsourced commodity.
