APG buys Viking Turbine Services to span the full turbine-service lifecycle

What's the deal? Allied Power Group (APGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →), a global gas turbine repair, parts, and field services provider, has acquired Viking Turbine Services, a North Carolina-based gas and steam turbine engineering firm. The deal, announced October 6, 2026, adds Viking's outage planning, project management, and technical oversight to APG's capabilities. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? APG wants to support customers across the entire turbine service lifecycle, from pre-outage planning through execution and return to service. Viking, founded in 2009 and headquartered in Hubert, North Carolina, brings field-based technical services and OEM-trained engineers who work on site for utility and independent power producer customers across the US.

What changes? Viking's team joins APG but will operate as its own neutral, unbiased entity, gaining access to additional engineering, repair, and parts resources. APG services GE gas turbines (Frames 5, 6, 7E/F, and 9) and Siemens models (501D, D5A, and F), plus combined-cycle and fossil steam turbines.

What they're saying: "Their outage planning, project management and technical oversight expertise complements APG's capabilities," said Jim Mugford, chief executive officer of APG. Viking co-owners Tim Midgette and Pete Jensen said joining APG lets their team "keep doing what we do best in the field" while tapping APG's engineering and parts resources.

The signal: The deal reflects consolidation among independent power-generation service providers, as firms bundle engineering, repair, and field services to cover customers end to end rather than compete on single stages of the outage cycle.
