Try Dealroom →, a maker of bio-based and hybrid industrial lubricants, the Wichita, Kansas-based company announced on October 19, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What does BioBlend do? Founded in 2007 and based in Grundy Center, Iowa, BioBlend develops biodegradable and hybrid lubricants for mining, marine, drilling, food-grade, and industrial markets. Its formulations target demanding applications such as underground mining, dredging, and fire-resistant hydraulic systems, and are designed to match petroleum-based products while cutting environmental impact.
Why it matters: The deal adds a bio-based platform to Lubrication Engineers' growing portfolio of synthetic and specialty products. Founded in 1951, the company makes industrial greases, gear oils, and asset reliability products, serving customers in more than 60 countries.
Why now? This is Lubrication Engineers' fourth acquisition since partnering with private equity firm Aurora Capital Partners in September 2023, after buying Royal Purple Industrial, SWEPCO, and sustainable-lubricant maker RSC Bio SolutionsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. BioBlend extends that acquisition-led push into renewable lubricants rather than marking an isolated move into the category.
What's the endgame? Lubrication Engineers wants to broaden its sustainable-lubricant capabilities and reach. "Together with the talented BioBlend team, we are committed to expanding access to sustainable, high-performing lubrication solutions," said chief executive officer Paul Vallis.
A role reversal: BioBlend itself had been building a portfolio through acquisition, buying biodegradable-lubricant maker Environmental Lubricant ManufacturingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2023. BioBlend chief executive officer Jeff Hart called Lubrication Engineers "the ideal home for our people, our customers and the future of BioBlend."
The signal: The bio-based corner of the lubricants market is consolidating as larger, PE-backed players absorb specialists to meet tightening environmental rules. With Aurora Capital managing roughly $6 billion in assets, Lubrication Engineers has the backing to keep buying — and renewable formulations are becoming a core part of that strategy, not a side bet.
