Prism Data lands $20M to score borrowers from bank data

What's the deal? Prism DataDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which helps lenders assess credit risk using bank transaction data, has raised $20 million in Series A funding, chief executive officer Jason Rosen told Axios. The round is a sharp step-up for the New York startup, which had raised about $5 million in seed funding since spinning out of credit card firm Petal in 2023.

What's the endgame? Prism turns raw deposit-account data into scores and attributes lenders use in credit decisions. Its flagship CashScore is a three-digit score predicting credit risk and first-party fraud, with variants aimed at buy-now-pay-later, cash advance, and earned wage access products.

Why now? Traditional credit reports can miss changes in borrowers' income, spending, and financial obligations that affect their ability to repay. Cash-flow data helps lenders assess applicants whose credit files are thin or whose income is irregular.

What's the endgame for distribution? In May 2026, Prism integrated with Socure's RiskOS platform, making its analytics available to lenders through an established risk-decisioning system. In a sector where vendors compete on integration into existing workflows, that reach may help turn the technology into broader adoption.

The signal: Prism's $20 million round sits above most early-stage deals, in the top quartile by size. It reflects lenders' growing appetite for alternative data to reach borrowers that conventional credit scoring leaves behind.
