Founded in 2023, ChipChip connects farms with buyers through a platform that uses data and artificial intelligence to make distribution more efficient.
What's the endgame? The company wants to cut waste between farm and household. "Between farm and household, too much value is lost and food costs more than it should," said Sokhna Mbaye, investment associate at Digital Africa.
What's the money for? ChipChip plans to build out its platform and data capabilities. "The investment allows us to strengthen our platform, deepen our data layer and expand our network of farmers and B2B buyers," said Bruk Getahun, co-founder and chief marketing officer.
Why now? The deal fits Digital Africa's newer focus on seed-stage startups in less-served African markets, alongside its planned €30 million Seed Fund.
