Dunoon IT firm BC Technologies buys Linwood rival in five-site expansion

What's the deal? BC TechnologiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an IT services provider based in Dunoon, has acquired Linwood-based Business iT Specialists for an undisclosed sum. The deal, announced in October 2026, takes BC Technologies to five locations.

Who's involved? BC Technologies was founded in London in 1994 as Wallace Computer Group, relocating to Dunoon and growing to 30 employees. Business iT Specialists, founded by Ross and Emma Toner, supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

What's the endgame? The acquisition adds a fifth site to BC Technologies' network, which already spans Inverness, Motherwell, and Bracknell in Berkshire, alongside its Dunoon base. The firm also still supports clients in and around London.

Ross Toner joins as a partner to continue driving growth. "Merging with BC Technologies was the right move for us because of the strong cultural alignment and shared ambition," he said. "This partnership gives us the platform to grow further."

Why now? Rachel Wallace, operations partner at BC Technologies, framed the deal around values rather than size. "This merger is about much more than scale, but about shared values," she said.

The signal: A firm that moved from London to a small Scottish town three decades ago is using acquisitions to build a multi-site IT services group — a reminder that consolidation among SME-focused IT providers reaches well beyond the big cities.
