JEDMED buys headband maker Oak Tree Group to expand OEM manufacturing

What's the deal? JEDMED, a 100% employee-owned medical equipment company based in St. Louis, has acquired Oak Tree Group, a manufacturer of customisable headbands for medical devices. The deal was announced on October 1, 2026, and terms were not disclosed.

What do they do? Oak Tree makes headbands for medical and dental headlights, ophthalmoscopes, loupes, head-mounted cameras, and virtual reality systems. JEDMED, founded in 1978, supplies medical equipment, surgical instruments, and technology to healthcare professionals.

What's the endgame? JEDMED plans to expand Oak Tree's capabilities through added resources in engineering, product development, prototyping, 3D printing, laser engraving, and warehousing. The aim is to help Oak Tree's OEM partners adapt existing designs and build solutions for new applications.

Why it matters: The acquisition brings Oak Tree's specialised manufacturing and longstanding OEM relationships under JEDMED's broader infrastructure. For existing customers, JEDMED says the product quality and personal service will continue, now backed by larger resources.

“We look forward to building on that foundation while bringing additional resources and capabilities that will allow Oak Tree Group to grow and better serve both existing and new partners,” said JEDMED president and chief executive officer Chris Swift.

Dan Wyatt, JEDMED's vice president of operations, framed the deal as an investment rather than a continuation. “Our goal is not simply to continue what Oak Tree Group has built, but to invest in it,” he said.

The signal: The move reflects how established medical equipment firms are absorbing niche component makers to widen their manufacturing reach and deepen OEM ties across both medical and emerging head-worn tech markets.
