What's the deal? Japanese travel group H.I.S.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (HIS) will acquire all shares of Rado KankoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → from Adventure, making the Osaka-based operator a wholly owned subsidiary. The deal covers 50,000 shares — a 100% stake — for US$5.26M (roughly $4.5 million), or US$5.29M including related expenses.

Who is Rado Kanko? Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Kita Ward, Osaka, it holds a strong market share and procurement network in the bus and ski tour sector. Adventure bought the company for US$8.08M in 2019.

By the numbers: Rado Kanko stayed profitable through the COVID-19 pandemic. For the fiscal year ended June 2025, it reported revenue of US$21M and operating profit of US$992.3K.

What's the endgame? HIS wants to strengthen its position in regional departure markets and bus travel products, where it lacks a sufficient presence. It plans to combine its sales network with Rado Kanko's regional reach to launch jointly planned products from regional areas and distribute Rado Kanko's specialised tours through its own channels and affiliated agencies nationwide.

Why now? The share transfer agreement was signed on September 11, with completion scheduled for November 30. HIS expects the impact on earnings to be minimal.

The signal: The acquisition shows HIS filling gaps in its domestic footprint through consolidation rather than building from scratch, targeting a profitable niche operator to extend its reach beyond major hubs.
