CUBOS buys SCAPO in third German EV charging deal since December

What's the deal? German energy service provider CUBOSDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired SCAPODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Mainz-based charging infrastructure firm, for an undisclosed sum. The deal expands CUBOS's charging network and customer base, with a particular foothold in the states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Why now? This is CUBOS's third takeover since December 2025, most recently absorbing the B2B charging infrastructure business of TotalEnergies. The company now operates more than 16,000 charging points, ranking it among Germany's leading charge point operators (CPOs).

What's the endgame? Founded in Wolfsburg in 2018, CUBOS builds energy solutions spanning charging infrastructure, battery storage, and photovoltaics. It wants to tie commercial charging more closely to companies' overall energy supply.

"The next stage of market evolution won't be decided by individual charging points," says Marc Wille, chief executive officer of CUBOS. "What matters is who can reliably operate infrastructure while simultaneously combining energy, technology, and services from a single source."

What changes for customers? SCAPO's existing contracts remain unchanged for now, with operations continuing uninterrupted. Integration into CUBOS will happen gradually, and the acquirer gains SCAPO's staff and expertise.

"For our customers, the acquisition primarily means a seamless transition," says Dejan Grgic-Groß, chief executive officer of SCAPO.

The signal: Germany's EV charging market is consolidating as operators chase scale and integrated energy offerings. CUBOS has signalled more deals to come, positioning itself as a one-stop provider in a professionalising sector.
