IIFL Capital hits $52.6M first close on maiden late-stage PE fund

What's the deal? IIFL Capital Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised about US$67.9M (≈$52.6 million) at the first close of its maiden IIFL Late-Stage Private Equity Fund. The fund targets a corpus of US$135.8M, with a greenshoe option to raise an additional US$135.8M.

What's the strategy? It invests in established, profitable Indian companies preparing to list on the stock market soon. Targets must rank among the top three to five players in their category, post EBITDA of at least US$10.2M–US$13.6M, and plan an IPO within three years.

The fund focuses on sectors expected to grow 15–18% annually, with average cheques of US$6.79M to US$13.6M.

What's the progress? It has already committed to two companies and is evaluating seven to eight more, ranging from term-sheet negotiations to due diligence, said Deepak Mittal, chief investment officer and head of private equity.

Why now? The first close, reached on September 15, 2026, comes amid renewed activity in India's primary market. July and August 2026 together recorded 35 mainboard IPOs after a subdued second quarter, while foreign portfolio investors returned as net buyers.

The fund will continue to accept subscriptions, with a final close targeted within nine months.

The signal: The fund sits between private equity and public markets, betting on scaled businesses with near-term listing plans rather than early-stage ventures. A sustained IPO revival could keep deal flow strong, but market conditions will shape the timing of exits.
