The companies: Finago is one of the largest financial, people, and business operations software providers in the Nordics. Founded in 2008 and based in Reykjavík, Regla sells cloud software covering financial accounting, invoicing, payroll, purchasing, and point of sale for small businesses and accounting offices.
Why now? The acquisition marks Finago's entry into Iceland. "Geographical expansion is an important pillar of our growth strategy, and this is an essential step on that journey — with more to come," says Lars Engbork, group chief executive officer of Finago.
What changes? Not much immediately. Regla will operate independently within the Finago Group, led by its current management, with no changes to daily operations, personnel, or customer relationships. Over time, Regla customers will gain access to Finago's AI tools for automating administration and reporting.
What's the endgame? Finago wants to be a leading player in every market it operates in, using cloud accounting and payroll as a foundation to sell customers more over time. Regla also gains a route to take its strongest products into new markets.
The signal: Nordic business-software consolidation continues, with established players buying local specialists to extend their geographic reach. For Finago, owning the systems "at the heart of how businesses are run" is the entry point to deeper, stickier customer relationships across the region.
