The hire: Asobisystem chief executive officer Yusuke Nakagawa will join N.D.Promotion's board as an outside director, formalising his role in the new joint operation.
Why now? The tie-up builds on a capital and business alliance between ContentAge and Asobisystem announced in March 2026. The new agreement extends that partnership into talent management.
The two sides already have ties: Furusawa joined Asobisystem's "KAWAII LAB." idol project and now records as an Asobisystem artist while staying signed to N.D.Promotion. ContentAge, N.D.Promotion's parent, had also taken investment from Asobisystem.
What's the endgame? The companies plan to pool networks across four areas: strengthening their acting divisions and media exposure, scouting and developing Gen Alpha and Gen Z talent, broadening opportunities for existing talent, and jointly running N.D.Promotion's photo and streaming studio in Harajuku.
"N.D.Promotion has worked to find talent through social media and expand their potential into various fields," chief executive officer Seiya Sato said (translated from Japanese), adding that the deal would pair that with Asobisystem's "culture and reach."
Nakagawa pointed to N.D.Promotion's "deep knowledge of youth culture and scouting ability" alongside Asobisystem's on-the-ground experience, saying he looked forward to "new synergies."
The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in Japan's entertainment industry as agencies combine social-media-driven talent discovery with traditional media access. By linking a Gen Z-focused agency with a pop-culture producer known for music festivals and overseas expansion, the three companies are betting that scouting power and distribution together outweigh what either can build alone.
