Haidilao revenue up 7.9% to $3.1B as delivery surges 121%

What's the deal? HaidilaoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → reported first-half 2026 revenue of US$3.07B, up 7.9% from a year earlier. Core operating profit rose 4.4% to US$345.7M, while group profit edged up 0.5% to US$242.6M.

Mixed signals: Revenue from Haidilao restaurants — the chain's hotpot core and 79.9% of group sales — fell 4.0% to US$2.45B, driven by a smaller self-operated store count. Same-store table turnover improved slightly to 3.9 times per day, from 3.8 a year earlier.

What's driving growth? Delivery is the fastest-growing segment, with revenue jumping 121.2% to US$282M and lifting its share of group sales from 4.5% to 9.2%. Revenue from the company's 21 other restaurant brands more than doubled, up 113.1% to US$174.8M.

The network: As of June 30, 2026, Haidilao operated 1,389 hotpot restaurants, including 1,267 self-operated outlets in mainland China and 99 franchised locations. It opened 38 restaurants in the half and closed 32 for reasons including ageing facilities and underperformance.

About those cuts: Headcount dropped to 113,325 at the end of June 2026, down 12,295 from 125,620 at the close of 2025 — a roughly 10% reduction in the workforce.

Leadership loan: On October 12, Haidilao disclosed a separate agreement to lend founder, chairman, and chief executive officer Zhang Yong up to US$13.8M in Hong Kong dollars for 30 days, at one-month HIBOR plus 60 basis points. Zhang returned as CEO on January 13 after stepping down from the role in March 2022.

The signal: Haidilao's results show a company leaning on delivery and newer brands to offset a shrinking core hotpot footprint. With leadership back in founder hands and headcount trimmed, the chain is prioritising efficiency over expansion.
