Edgewater buys HPC specialist RedLine to widen federal tech reach

What each side brings: Edgewater, based in Frederick, Maryland, provides enterprise IT, software engineering, AI, cybersecurity, cloud modernization and HPC services to defense, energy, health and civilian agencies. RedLine specializes in HPC, advanced cloud computing and scientific programming across research and engineering programs.
What changes for agencies? The combined company lets federal customers work with one provider across enterprise modernization, cloud, cybersecurity, software engineering, scientific computing and HPC. Edgewater says the larger organization will help agencies update mission systems, advance AI and HPC use, and build and optimize HPC environments.
What they said: Edgewater chief executive officer Tom Ferrando called the deal a step toward "a company that can design, deploy, operate, and optimize the systems that support the nation's critical infrastructure." RedLine chief executive officer Carolyn Pasti said joining Edgewater gives it "the resources to offer complete solutions" built on its HPC track record.
Why now? Federal civilian agencies continue to pursue technology modernization across their enterprises, driving demand for providers that span AI, cloud and HPC.
