Chai AI passes $100M ARR with a team of around 15

What happened? Chai ResearchDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the company behind the social AI chat platform Chai, reached $100M in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in July 2026, according to the company. Founder William BeauchampDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said in July 2026 that the business was generating more than $100M a year with a team of about 15 people. Chai reported $80M ARR at the end of Q1 2026 and around $40M ARR in 2025, when it had 11 engineers. By 1 October 2026 the company put its ARR at $120M (unaudited run-rate).

The business: Founded in January 2021 and based in Palo Alto, Chai lets users chat with AI characters built by its community. It makes money through subscriptions and in-app purchases, and says it has more than 1M daily active users and over 10M users in the past 12 months. The company runs its own inference infrastructure, serving about 1.2 trillion tokens a day on roughly 5,000 GPUs across more than 51,000 models. Chai says its unit economics are profitable, and that it is profitable excluding sales and marketing spend.

Why it matters: Chai has raised about $55M to date from backers including CoreWeave and AMD. Reaching $100M ARR with a team of this size puts it among the most capital- and headcount-efficient consumer AI companies, and the jump from $80M to $120M ARR between March and October 2026 shows growth has continued past the milestone.
