Try Dealroom → has launched two Special Funds for Kenyan investors: the USD-denominated Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund and the Kenyan shilling-denominated Multi-Asset Special Fund. The firm did not disclose fund sizes.

What's inside the funds? The Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund gives investors access to global stocks, with featured holdings including Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, AlphabetDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Apple, Meta, Netflix, and Adobe.

The Multi-Asset Special Fund combines local and global equities and exchange-traded funds, fixed income, commodities, and alternative investments. It requires a minimum initial investment of US$4.87K, with top-ups from US$2.43K, and carries a six-month lock-in period.

What's the endgame? BritamDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → wants to turn African consumers of global products into investors in the companies behind them. "We believe they should also have the opportunity to become investors in the companies driving that economy, own a stake in their growth and share in the value they create," said Tom Gitogo, group managing director and chief executive officer.

What could go wrong? The Multi-Asset Special Fund is a leveraged strategy, allowing borrowing to raise market exposure — which also raises risk. It uses foreign exchange strategies to manage shilling movements and is built for a three- to five-year horizon.

Britam Asset Managers chief executive officer Barack Obatsa framed the funds as long-term bets requiring active oversight. "We continuously assess whether each investment still earns its place in the portfolio," he said.

The signal: Offering dollar-denominated exposure to US tech giants reflects growing demand among African investors for global diversification and a hedge against local currency swings — packaged in products accessible from Nairobi.
