New fund

Ex-White House AI adviser Sriram Krishnan is raising a $500M VC fund

Sriram Krishnan, who stepped down in June as the White House's senior policy adviser on AI, is seeking to raise around $500 million for a new venture capital fund, Axios reported on 7 October 2026.

What's the fund? It is at an early stage and does not yet have a name. It is expected to focus on growth-stage AI companies with relevance to national security for the US or allied nations, and Krishnan is building a team. Plans he had discussed for an AI-focused policy institute in the mould of the Hoover Institution appear to be on hold, though they could become part of the new effort.

Context: Before joining the White House, Krishnan was a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, following roles at Snap, Twitter and Facebook.
