Mortgage Connect buys majority stake in Stavvy to build end-to-end digital closing

What's the deal? Mortgage ConnectDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired a majority interest in Stavvy, a digital mortgage technology company, and plans to combine its operations with Mortgage Connect's Simply Secure Sign eClosing platform. The deal value was undisclosed. Stavvy's leadership team and employees will join Mortgage Connect as the two integrate their technologies.

What's the endgame? The combined platform aims to cover the full digital mortgage closing — from eligibility and document execution to notarization, eNotes, eVault custody, and collateral management. Simply Secure Sign already supports remote online notarization, in-person electronic notarization, hybrid, and traditional closings. Stavvy adds SMART Doc generation, eNote execution across all 50 states, eVault custody, and MERS eRegistry registration and transfer.

Why now? Mortgage Connect said lenders often rely on several separate vendors to execute a fully digital closing, requiring multiple integrations, contracts, security reviews, and handoffs. The combination is designed to reduce that fragmentation within a single ecosystem.

How it works: The platform will use digital eligibility tools to determine the right closing method for each transaction — remote online notarization, IPEN, hybrid, or a traditional wet closing. Lenders then stay within the platform through document execution, notarization, eNote creation, MERS registration, eVault custody, and post-closing workflows. It is expected to support purchase, refinance, home equity, and loss mitigation transactions.

What they're saying: "By bringing Simply Secure Sign and Stavvy together, we are creating a more complete digital mortgage platform with expanded capabilities across closing, servicing and collateral management," said Jeff Coury, chief executive officer of Mortgage Connect. Stavvy chief executive officer Kyle Stephenson said the pairing creates "a true end-to-end eClosing platform where lenders no longer have to piece together multiple providers."

The signal: Mortgage Connect serves 19 of the 20 largest US lenders and servicers across origination, servicing, and default — giving it the scale to push consolidation in a fragmented mortgage technology market. Folding a specialist like Stavvy into one platform reflects a broader move toward single-vendor digital closing stacks.
