The deal, announced October 6, expands TA's cross-border transportation and warehousing in El Paso and Laredo, Texas. Terms were undisclosed.

What's included? The transaction brings trucking assets, five warehouses totalling more than 550,000 square feet, and a truck yard of roughly 10 acres. Together, CPT and ILF provide long-haul transportation, warehousing, cross-docking, freight consolidation, brokerage, and customs-related services.

CPT and ILF were founded by Richard Ibarra Sr.; the Ibarra family and the full team will stay on, providing continuity for employees and customers.

What they said: "Cross-border performance depends on what happens on both sides of the border and at every handoff in between," said Scott Schell, chief executive officer of TA Services. Ibarra said the deal gives customers "access to more markets and services."

Why now? Schell tied the move to a growing industrial economy. "As the industrial economy continues to expand in 2026 and over the years to come, we are setting ourselves up to be a key partner to support this growth," he said.

The signal: The deal reinforces a push to consolidate capacity along the US–Mexico corridor, where manufacturers increasingly route freight. By folding in established El Paso and Laredo operations, TA is betting that control over border handoffs will be a competitive edge as nearshoring reshapes North American supply chains.
