Try Dealroom →, the country's first venture capital fund dedicated to space technology. The vehicle holds US$125M (around $129 million) and plans to back 15 to 20 growth-stage companies, with US$2.5M to US$25M per project. Who's involved? The fund operates as an Alternative Investment Company attached to BGK, with portfolio management handled by VinciDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. It is the third fund managed by Vinci, alongside its private equity and venture capital vehicles; BGK's total commitment across them reaches US$400M.

What's the focus? Priority sectors include satellite construction, optics, Earth observation, space communications, photonics, propulsion, data processing, and artificial intelligence. The fund targets companies that have validated their business model and generate early revenue but need capital to expand. It mainly backs Polish firms, though European companies qualify if their centre of interest sits in Poland.

Why now? The initiative, proposed by Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański, aims to build the country's technological sovereignty and keep innovation at home. "We want the most advanced technologies to be developed in Poland so that Polish companies don't have to look abroad for capital once they start succeeding," Domański said (translated from Polish).

Who's backing it? ICEYE, a global leader in microsatellite radar (SAR) imaging, joined as strategic partner, with co-founder and chief executive officer Rafał Modrzewski advising portfolio firms. Vinci's private equity fund invested the equivalent of US$21.3M in ICEYE across two rounds in 2025. The Polish Space AgencyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Ministry of Development and Technology, and Kraków Technology Park also sit on the fund's advisory board.

The signal: Poland's space sector now spans roughly 400 companies and employs over 15,000 specialists, and the fund reflects a push to retain high-growth firms domestically. "When we founded ICEYE 12 years ago, raising capital in Poland was extremely difficult," Modrzewski said. "Today, space is becoming the fourth strategic domain." (translated from Polish)
