Infinite Partners closes $170M second PE fund, beating target

What's the deal? Infinite PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has held the final close of its Core Equity Fund II at R2.8 billion ($170 million), exceeding its R2.5 billion target. The South African private equity firm raised the capital from a 100% domestic institutional base of pension funds, insurers, asset managers, and banks.

What's the endgame? The fund targets established mid-market businesses, providing both growth and replacement capital. Individual investments typically range between R100 million and R500 million.

Why now? The fund has already made two investments. It backed e4, an enterprise software business serving banking and property, and CYNKDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which develops digital infrastructure assets.

E4's platform has processed R2.8 trillion in mortgages since inception and now has a nascent UK operation. CYNK has extended fibre connectivity to more than 667,000 households, mainly in townships.

What they're saying: "We focus on backing quality businesses with identifiable tailwinds, and potential to create sustainable value over time," said co-founder and chief executive officer Edward Pitsi.

The signal: The fund's all-South African institutional backing, raised above target, points to continued domestic appetite for mid-market private equity. Infinite Partners is 100% founder- and Black-owned, majority Black female-owned, and Level 1 B-BBEE certified.
