Dicker Data buys Sektor for $77.9M to break into South-East Asia
What's the deal? Dicker DataDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Australian technology distributor, has agreed to acquire 100% of SektorDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Group for about US$72.3M (roughly $77.9 million). The deal, struck on a cash-free, debt-free basis, gives Dicker Data operating bases in Thailand and Malaysia.
What each side does: Dicker Data has distributed hardware, software, and cloud products to resellers since 1978, with a network of more than 12,000 partners across Australia and New Zealand. Sektor, founded in 2009, distributes point-of-sale, enterprise mobility, cybersecurity, physical security, and infrastructure products, and employs about 230 people.
Why the expansion? The acquisition hands Dicker Data a direct presence in South-East Asia via Sektor's Thailand and Malaysia operations, which include local facilities and teams and about 60 staff. It also opens adjacent categories such as point-of-sale and automatic identification and data capture — a market Dicker Data values at about US$647.1M in Australia and New Zealand.
The numbers: In the 12 months to August 31, 2026, Sektor booked gross revenue of US$284.7M and normalised pre-AASB16 EBITDA of US$14.7M. Dicker Data expects the deal to be earnings accretive in its FY26 and targets annualised post-integration EBITDA of US$18.1M to US$20.7M.
How it's funded: Dicker Data will pay through an extension of its existing debt facilities. The transaction is expected to close by the end of October, subject to standard conditions and regulatory approvals.
What's the endgame? The two companies plan to cross-sell — introducing Dicker Data's vendor portfolio to Sektor's resellers while pushing Sektor's products through Dicker Data's larger partner base. "The acquisition of Sektor is highly complementary to Dicker Data's existing business," said Fiona Brown, executive chair and managing director, calling it "a logical extension of our long-term growth strategy."
The signal: For a distributor built on the Australia-New Zealand market, buying scale in South-East Asia is a bet on a broader Asia-Pacific ICT market Dicker Data pegs at $647 billion. Consolidating adjacent product lines and a regional footprint in one deal is how incumbents chase growth beyond saturated home turf.
